ActionDiscussion of Specialty Underwriters Policy Equipment A quote from Specialty Underwriters was presented to the board for review.
This insurance allows the district to submit claims for repair to electronic equipment. Premiums are paid out of the management fund, but the claim reimbursements are allowed to be deposited into the general fund. Superintendent Straight recommended the board approve the quote from Specialty Underwriters for the 2017-2018 year. There was motion by Cook, second by Garling to approve Superintendent Straight's recommendation. All voted, "aye." Motion carried.
9. ActionDiscussion on Specialty Underwriters Environmental Controls A quote from Specialty Underwriters was presented to the board for review. This policy would be a new one to the district. It would be similar to the electronic break down repair policy, but it would cover electronics regarding HVAC equipment. Similar to the other policy electronic equipment break down policy, this premium would also be paid for out of the management fund, with claim reimbursements able to be put back into the general fund.
Superintendent Straight recommended the board approve this policy. After brief discussion took place, there was motion by Garling, second by Cook to approve this policy for the 2017-2018 year. All voted, "aye." Motion carried. 10. ActionDiscussion on Alliant Energy Audit Superintendent Straight presented the results of the energy audit provided by Alliant Energy.
Recommendations given by Alliant as a result of the audit included LED replacement lighting and new temperature controls for greater efficiency. Discussion took place about possible solar alternatives for the district's use in the future. The board was in agreement to allow Superintendent Straight to receive bids from companies for lighting replacement and thermostat control replacements. No action was taken on this item. 11.
ActionDiscussion on Bid Requests for Cameras and System Upgrades Superintendent Straight informed the board that the school's camera system currently in place is outdated and is insufficient for the district's needs. Additional cameras are needed at both school locations, as well. Superintendent Straight stated that he would like to look at quotes for upgrades and additional equipment. There was motion by Garling, second by Johnson to authorize Superintendent Straight's request to receive bids for cameras and security system upgrades for the district. All voted, "aye." Motion carried.

Appointment of the Belle Plaine Board of Education Secretary and Treasurer for the 2017-2018 Year Superintendent Straight recommended the board approve Stacey Kolars as the Board of Education Secretary and Treasurer for the 2017-2018 year. There was motion by Johnson, second by Garling to approve Superintendent Straight's recommendation. All voted, "aye." Motion carried. 3. Provisions of Bonds for the Belle Plaine Board Secretary and Treasurer Superintendent Straight recommended the board accept the employee blanket bond as sufficient bond for the board secretarytreasurer for the 201 7-2018 year.

Second Reading of Board Policy 710.4 Lunch Program and Meals At its last meeting, the board approved the first reading of board policy 710.4 regarding the lunch program and meals for the school district. There was motion by Cook, second by Bachelder to approve the second reading of board policy 710.4.

DiscussionAction Regarding Changes in 2017-2018 Secondary School Handbook and Elementary School Handbook -Principal Coover, and Principal Werner presented the 2017-2018 elementary and secondary school handbooks to the board outlining the changesrevisions made. After discussion took place, there was motion by Cook, second by Garling to approve the secondary and elementary school handbooks for the 2017-2018 school year. All voted, "aye." Motion carried.
6. DiscussionAction Regarding Establishment of School Depositories and Maximum Deposit Amounts Superintendent Straight informed the board that school districts are to establish school district depositories and maximum deposit amounts. The recommended depositories and recommended maximum deposit amounts are listed below: Chelsea Savings Bank any school funds $4.5 mil lion Midwestone Bank any school funds $4.5 million Bankers Trust any school funds $5 million Motion by Cook, second by Garling to approve Superintendent Straight's recommendation for school depositories and amounts for the 2017-2018 year. Approva I of Resol ution on PPEL Renewal and Language for Ballot The following resolution was presented to the board for the September 12, 2017 election RESOLUTION OF ELECTION Director GARLING introduced and caused to be read the Resolution hereinafter set out and moved its adoption; seconded by Director COOK; after due consideration by the Board, the President put the question upon the adoption of said Resolution and the results of the roll call vote were: Cook, "aye;" Bachelder, "aye;" Johnson, "aye;" Garling, "aye;" Stratford, "aye." Whereupon, the President declared said Resolution duly adopted as follows: WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Bel le Plaine Community School District deems it necessary and desirable that the District continue to obtain additional funds to be used for the purposes as authorized by Chapter 298 of the Iowa Code; and WHEREAS, the District wishes to take action to al low voters to approve a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy consisting of a combination of a property tax on all the taxable property in the School District commencing on July 1, 2021, and a Physical Plant and Equipment Income Surtax upon the state individual income tax of each individual income taxpayer resident in the District on December 31 for each calendar year commencing with the 2021 calendar year with the percent of income surtax not to exceed one dol lar and thirty-four cents ($1.34) per one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) of assessed property value in any one tax year for a period commencing on July 1, 2021 and not exceeding ten (10) years. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Bel le Plaine Community School District, in the counties of Benton, Iowa, Poweshiek, and Tama, State of Iowa, that the Secretary be requested to present the following question to the County Commissioner of Elections for presentation to the voters of the District on September 12, 2017: Shall the Board of Directors of the Belle Plaine Community School District in the Counties of Benton, Iowa, Poweshiek, and Tama, State of Iowa, be authorized for a period of ten (10) years, to levy and impose a voter approved physical plant and equipment tax not to exceed on dol lar and thirty-four cents ($1.34) per one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) of assessed valuation of the taxable property within the school district, and be authorized annually, in combination, as determined by the board, to levy a physical plant and equipment property tax upon all the taxable property within the school district commencing with the levy of property taxes for collection in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021, and to impose a physical plant and equipment income surtax upon the state individual income tax of each individual income taxpayer resident in the school district on December 31 for each calendar year commencing with the 2021 calendar year, or each year thereafter, (the percent of income surtax not to exceed twenty percent (20), to be determined by the board each year), to be used for the purposes permitted by Iowa law, it being understood that if this proposition should fail to be approved by the voters, such failure shall not be construed to Mtce.
